Description

Looking for a no-prep, engaging activity for unit rates and better buy? This fun Taco-Tuesday themed digital activity is the perfect way to practice finding the better buy!

Students will find the unit prices for 6 different items at 2 different stores and determine which store is the better buy for each item. A written response question is included on the last slide.

This activity includes two different versions: one that requires students to round to the nearest cent and one that does not require rounding. Both versions have the same answers. Use just one version or use both as a way to differentiate!

Please view the preview file to make sure that this activity is appropriate for your students.

This product includes the following:

  • A link to two versions of the digital activity on Google Slides including student directions
  • A PowerPoint version of each version of the activity that can be uploaded to OneDrive
  • A printable version of the activity (also available separately)
  • Detailed directions for how to share the activity with students including video tutorials for both Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive
  • An optional recording sheet
  • 2 optional Google Forms for self-checking/easy grading along with a tutorial
  • Answer key

Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations.
Solve unit rate problems including those involving unit pricing and constant speed. For example, if it took 7 hours to mow 4 lawns, then at that rate, how many lawns could be mowed in 35 hours? At what rate were lawns being mowed?
