What educators are saying

My classes always love boom cards. They are more engaged than if they were doing the work all on paper.
My students enjoyed completing and adding some of these to their math journals. The best part was the differentiation already included in this resource. Thank you for that!

    What are Boom Cards?

These digital task cards allow your students to practice and receive IMMEDIATE feedback as they work through the deck. As soon as they answer they will either receive a green circle with a ding or a red circle with an opportunity to try again.

The deck is automatically randomized so that students who are sitting next to one another will receive different questions in a different order- no chance of cheating!

Boom Cards are entirely digital meaning your students will be able to access them from a variety of devices and begin learning with no printing or preparation from the teacher!

    How do Boom Cards Work?

After purchasing this product you receive a PDF. That PDF includes a link directly to the Boom platform. From there, you will be able to use your Boom account to quickly and easily assign the deck to your students.

To use Boom Cards, you must be connected to the Internet. Boom Cards play on modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge). Apps are available for Android, iPads, iPhones, and Kindle Fires. For security and privacy, adults must have a Boom Learning account to use and assign Boom Cards. You will be able to assign the Boom Cards you are buying with "Fast Pins," (play provides instant feedback for self-grading Boom Cards). Fast Play is always a free way for students to engage with Boom Cards decks. For additional assignment options you'll need a premium account. If you are new to Boom Learning, you will be offered a free trial of our premium account. Read here for details: http://bit.ly/BoomTrial.

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Understand addition and subtraction of fractions as joining and separating parts referring to the same whole.
Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole and having like denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models and equations to represent the problem.
Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions referring to the same whole, including cases of unlike denominators, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem. Use benchmark fractions and number sense of fractions to estimate mentally and assess the reasonableness of answers. For example, recognize an incorrect result 2/5 + 1/2 = 3/7, by observing that 3/7 < 1/2.
