A lesson designed to teach middle schoolers about the Periodic Table of Elements. The lesson introduces students to the organization of the table. What information is found on the table and how it can be used. Rocks and Minerals Assessment Activity Smart Board
This is a SMART board activity that can be used as whole class review/introduction of rocks and minerals or it can be used as individual assessment of rocks and minerals. This assessment/activity covers the three types of rocks, igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic, difference between a rock and mineral, mineral properties, moh's hardness scale, and volcanoes. My students love to use individual computers and SMART notebook to complete this assessment at the end of my rocks and minerals unit.

Simple Machines Hot Spots for SmartBoard
This Smart Notebook file contains a picture of 5 simple machines that need to be labeled (levers, pulley, inclined plane,wheel & axle, and wedge). It utilizes the hot spots tool. Click the start button and students will be prompted to find each machine as it is listed. Levers are classified as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class for this activity.

A short 10 question quick check on solar energy. Most of the questions focus on conduction, convection, and radiation. There are two questions on the layers of the atmosphere. The notebook file is set up with the first 5 slides contain the question and pictures. These can be used with students writing answers on a sheet of notebook paper.
