TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked as a moderate/severe special education paraprofessional for 5 years in different grade levels from kindergarten to adult transition, as well as in a general education and inclusive setting. My rewarding experiences as an aide motivated me to become a teacher, and I am currently teaching moderate/severe High School/Adult Transition and a Vocation Program Specialist at a non-public inclusive school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

It is my mission to help students develop the skills necessary to be independent adults and life-long learners! Off-campus real life experiences are among the most beneficial teaching tools in special education, but I believe a well crafted lesson and supplemental materials are necessary to help teach & front load the students about the journeys they are going to embark on.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

The most rewarding moments are not those that I witness in the classroom, but when a parent tells me that their child has transferred that knowledge in the home & community setting. :)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with my BA in Marketing from Cal State Fullerton and received my Moderate/Severe Education Specialist credential from National University, where I also received my Masters in education. I continue to have a clear credential and enjoy teaching in the classroom!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have a rescue dog named Maisy who loves to cuddle, and I enjoy doing any type of creative crafts/projects & drawing. I am a passionate hockey fan and I also enjoy playing ice & roller hockey. Check out my blog for life skills and vocational ideas at: www.spedadulting.com
