Description

This 17 page activity packet (2 VERSIONS to meet the needs of your students) contains everything your students need to complete a Document Based Activity (using primary sources/secondary sources) on how the Catholic Church fought back against the Protestant Reformation (Counter-Reformation). Students will read primary/secondary documents that introduce them to the ideas of the 95 Theses, Council of Trent, Inquisition, the Society of Jesus/Jesuits and the Index of Prohibited Books and More!

Students will:

1) Read each primary/secondary source document (excerpt) to understand how the Catholic Church fought back against the spread of Protestantism.

2) While examining the documents, students can answer the Comprehension Check Questions, for each document, on paper or orally discuss with a partner.

3) Students will then complete their graphic organizers to record information that will answer the overall question: How did the Catholic Church fight back against the Reformation?

4) Students can then use their graphic organizers to complete a creative Exit Card activity.

I have included 2 Versions of the Documents (Sources), one set for Advanced students (11th-12th graders) and another set that provides more scaffolding (7th-9th graders) - use what works best for your class!

**Includes a GOOGLE and Traditional version for your use!
