Description

With shows like "The Walking Dead" and others, students are interested in how to survive the Zombie Apocalypse.

One thing they will need is an improvised water filter to clean dirty water. This type of water filter was seen in a episode of "The Walking Dead". It's also featured in survival shows.

You will need plastic water bottles, sand, gravel, coffee filters, marbles, and any other medium you think can be used to filter water. I do NOT recommend using charcoal or ash, because when wet they are too messy.

It is a great way to explore physical and chemical changes in science.

Easel Activity & Assessment

Easel Activity is a great way to do this lab on a device or as a home school assignment! You can link the lab to a chrome book and do this lab in the gym or hallway!

A 6 question Easel Assessment is a great exit ticket for this lab. You can use it as a post lab test or check for understanding. You can download this to your Google Drive and have your students take it as a pre-lab check or exit ticket.

Answer Key

A separate answer key PDF file is included in this activity! It gives sample answers to open ended questions.
