Description
Visual cue card for lanyard: these cue cards are meant to be placed on a ring and carried with all adults that are working with a child with autism. That way, the team can provide consistency, and predictability with the visual cues they are using.
Visual supports are an evidence-based practice with autistic children. That means they have been proven to work. Visual cue cards can help children understand directions when (verbal) words don’t make sense. Giving directions verbally isn’t usually the most effective way to communicate with a child with autism, but visuals can act as a bridge with receptive and expressive communication.
The following images are included (the size of each visual cue card is 2.25 inches x 2.25 inches...the size is not editable):
sit, sit on floor, walk, break, all done, safe hands, breathe, bathroom, stop, go, drink, wait, table, desk, carpet, line up, raise hand, bus, quiet, clean up, help, playground, no, yes, mask on, hands in lap, calm body, more, hold hands, wash hands, classroom, watch teacher, car, hands to self, sanitizer, group, no hit, no bite, no kick, no spit, no pinch, not available, sorry, happy, sad, mad, walk with teacher, 3 deep breaths, no pull hair, speech therapy, OT, PT, PE/gym, art class, music class, special activity, library, cafeteria, resource room, and office.
