Description

If your students don't like to write poetry, let's change their minds together! Using Carl Sandburg's "Theme in Yellow" as a mentor text, we'll analyze the poem and then use it to help students write their own poem.

This poem is wonderful to analyze because of its rich imagery. To capitalize on that, we'll use images to enrich the experience.

Although you can use this resource at any time, this poem is perfect for fall classroom discussion. If you're looking for something perfect for pumpkins and crunchy leaves, this is the poem!

I've included a rubric for their poem, as well as word-for-word instructions for what you can say. Seriously, it doesn't get easier than this to have an amazing experience. If you want an easy lesson for a classroom observation, this would be a great one!
