Description

The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes is a classic ghost story that students love. Middle school students enjoy reading "The Highwayman" at Halloween. Digital resource has slides on characters, vocabulary, and literary elements such as figurative language and sound devices included. Has an activity for sequencing the events in the plot. Great poetry analysis and word study for October. The narrative poem is shown as a verse per slide. Students can take turns reading, or if you have an audio, have them read along with it. After reading, there are two writing responses and a link to a ten-minute video of this romantic ballad poem set to music. Students can complete the plot sequencing activity at the end, where they have to put 5 events from the poem in story order. Includes vocabulary notes and definitions handouts. 40 slides. Have fun with this historical and spooky tale! DEBHG8RP
