What educators are saying

There are so many different ways to use this resource. My absolute favorite part was the stations/task card activity with engaging pictures and questions. My students also enjoyed the readings and questions. Thank you!
This was a great resource for my students to be able to "visually" see and work through some of the fossil record concepts that we had been working on. It was easy to prep and use. Thank you!

Description

What does the fossil record tell us about life on Earth in the past? The Fossil Record: Students will analyze the patterns in the fossil record to see that the Earth’s surface has changed over time, some organisms are now extinct, and some organisms have changed over time. The fossil record provides evidence for evolution on Earth. Students will analyze this evidence and make inferences about life long ago. They will look for patterns in the fossil record. This is a huge unit with 66 pages and slides!

NGSSMS-LS4-1
Analyze and interpret data for patterns in the fossil record that document the existence, diversity, extinction, and change of life forms throughout the history of life on Earth under the assumption that natural laws operate today as in the past. Emphasis is on finding patterns of changes in the level of complexity of anatomical structures in organisms and the chronological order of fossil appearance in the rock layers. Assessment does not include the names of individual species or geological eras in the fossil record.
