My students loved creating with this resource, after reading the book they were able to relate with the main character in the story.
Such a great resource! My kids loved this story, so we used several resources over 3 days. We focused on the character traits resource, and then used the Digger craft and an open-ended writing piece to discuss the theme and connections to Earth Day, Thank you!

Description

This resource is a book companion craft that includes multiple reading/writing printables (with a Lesson plan guide) to support the book The Digger and the Flower by Joseph Kuefler for a Kindergarten up to 2nd grade classroom.

The Digger and the Flower is an environmental focused text about a little excavator, Digger who stumbles upon a flower while working in the city and begins to care for it. The story twists when the little flower gets cut down by Digger’s friend who didn't even notice it… with this, Digger’s small deed creates big change in the city. It’s a story that can spark rich conversations about Digger’s actions and what we can do to help our Earth – like planting flowers. It would be a great text to use in the Spring and/or Earth Day.
