✯ The Bill of Rights Article & Review | U.S. Constitution Activity for Civics!

• Students read a 2-page article introducing the Bill of Rights, outlining the main ideas of each of the ten Amendments, and emphasizing the importance and impact of the Bill of Rights' protections in their own lives.
• A review has students defining key terms, matching Constitutional Amendments to their descriptions, and considering what life would be like today without the protections and freedoms of the Bill of Rights.
• A short essay asks students to pretend they're an Anti-Federalist writing to convince Congress to ratify the Bill of Rights. They must describe why the Bill of Rights is necessary and the impact if such rights are not protected.

✯ The Bill of Rights Annotated Close Read | Bill of Rights Activity for Civics!

• This in-depth Annotated Close-Read has students carefully read and consider the Bill of Rights. Each of the first ten amendments to the Constitution is presented with questions that steer students towards a greater understanding of the Amendment's key ideas.
• Works as a whole-group activity (where you read the Amendments with the class and work through the language together), or as individual assignments.

• Students create a creative One-Pager project that describes and illustrates each of the first ten Amendments to the Constitution.

• This is a really fun project that can be a group collaboration or solo-work.
• Students create a banner designed around our five First Amendment freedoms: religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition! Each pendant represents a different freedom, and students can get as creative as they'd like with designing their banners!
