What educators are saying

My kiddos thoroughly enjoyed this resource. It has significantly enhanced their understanding of the processes involved in amending the Constitution and the principles of the Bill of Rights!
I love these resources! This is a great combination of rigor and a little fun. The close reads are a great way to get students doing something different than listing to a slides presentation and there are a lot of doodle, coloring, and drawing elements that help students stay focused on their work.

    Description

This Bill of Rights bundle includes 5 resources for teaching the Bill of Rights in your Civics, American Government, or American History classroom. There's a variety of activities here that are sure to catch your students' attention and keep them engaged, from articles and reviews, to close-reads and short essays, to creative projects like a Bill of Rights One-Pager and a First Amendment Pendant Banner!

    This Bundle includes:

Amending the Constitution Article & Review | for Civics & American Government

    • This article introduces students to the Amendment Process, and it describes some of the most important Constitutional Amendments in history.
    • In the review, students define key vocabulary terms related to the Amendment process, compare amending the Constitution with that of the Articles of Confederation, as well as complete a graphic organizer about the Amendment process.

The Bill of Rights Article & Review | U.S. Constitution Activity for Civics!

    • Students read a 2-page article introducing the Bill of Rights, outlining the main ideas of each of the ten Amendments, and emphasizing the importance and impact of the Bill of Rights' protections in their own lives.
    • A review has students defining key terms, matching Constitutional Amendments to their descriptions, and considering what life would be like today without the protections and freedoms of the Bill of Rights.
    • A short essay asks students to pretend they're an Anti-Federalist writing to convince Congress to ratify the Bill of Rights. They must describe why the Bill of Rights is necessary and the impact if such rights are not protected.

The Bill of Rights Annotated Close Read | Bill of Rights Activity for Civics!

    • This in-depth Annotated Close-Read has students carefully read and consider the Bill of Rights. Each of the first ten amendments to the Constitution is presented with questions that steer students towards a greater understanding of the Amendment's key ideas.
    • Works as a whole-group activity (where you read the Amendments with the class and work through the language together), or as individual assignments.

Bill of Rights One-Pager | Creative Project for Civics & American History!

    • Students create a creative One-Pager project that describes and illustrates each of the first ten Amendments to the Constitution.
    • Includes blank templates, rubric, and a sample!

First Amendment Banner Project | Bill of Rights Creative Project for Civics!

    • This is a really fun project that can be a group collaboration or solo-work.
    • Students create a banner designed around our five First Amendment freedoms: religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition! Each pendant represents a different freedom, and students can get as creative as they'd like with designing their banners!

All in all, this bundle provides you with at least two weeks of Bill of Rights articles and projects to help your students comprehend and appreciate these important civil liberties! This will be a growing bundle, and more Bill of Rights resources will be added as I make them in the coming months. Buy now at the lowest price, and you'll get all future resources added for free!

The resources in this bundle come as non-editable PDFs, and include Answer Keys, rubrics, and samples where applicable. Most resources are also available as TPT Easel digital activities, which can be assigned directly to Google Classroom or shared with your students via a link!
