What educators are saying

LOVE this resource for encouraging my students in reading and writing. I also love the research component with the Thanksgiving around the world file - one of my favorite resources to use in November! Thank you!

    Description

Looking for a few fun Thanksgiving and November materials for your students? This pack includes 5 projects for your students in grades 3-5. There is social studies, reading, writing, and math included in this bundle of 5 activities. This is great for the week leading up to Thanksgiving when things get a bit crazy and we still need to focus on our objectives and standards!

    This pack includes:

    1. Turbo the Turkey Math Craftivity. This is a great project which is totally differentiated for grades 2-5 and covers grade-level standards in math!
    2. Don't Eat Me! Persuasive writing prompt for grades 3-5 includes articles and an infographic for students to research. Students then use this information to write a persuasive letter from the point of view of a turkey, explaining why people shouldn't eat turkey, but instead should eat beef or chicken!
    3. Thanksgiving Around the World- Students read 5 articles, complete activities to go with each, and then use these materials to create a fun Thanksgiving craftivity for your bulletin board or hallway display.
    4. Trap the Turkey Area and Perimeter Activity. Students must trap the turkeys using a fence. Students then find the area and perimeter of their fence.
    5. The REAL First Thanksgiving opinion writing takes a look at what REALLY happened on the first Thanksgiving. Students explore this topic using articles and student voices.

Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
