Stock Market Task Cards with QR Codes for Business Math

Apply key math skills to the real world with these Stock Market Task Cards. This product was designed to help you practice stock market calculations. In this activity students will calculate stock purchases, capital gain/loss, and return on investment (ROI). Students will solve 12 word problems and complete a worksheet to show their work. Students are presented with one problem at a time and then pass the cards upon their completion.

QR codes are a great way for students to check their answers as they work instead of waiting until you go over it for them to realize they're doing something wrong. QR codes are the perfect solution for providing student feedback with a large class.

Task cards can be reused each year and can be more stimulating than simply handing students a packet of work. Hole punch the corners and use a binder ring for easy storage. Print them on brightly colored paper for an extra pop!

This product is one PDF. The student worksheet is also available as an interactive layer PDF with answer boxes. To make this activity digital, you can assign it through Google Classroom or you can copy a unique URL to the activity and paste it into any LMS you use with your students. However, students will need to login with a Google email account in order to access their activity. As a reminder, all digital student work is completed and reviewed on TpT.

Activity Instructions

• Decide if you would like to use the plain cards or cards with the QR code answers.
• Print a copy of the 12 task cards and a formula cheat sheet for each group and a student worksheet for each student.
• Cut each task card sheet into 4 so that each card is separate. Laminate for re-use.
• If using the QR code version, ensure students have access to a QR code reader or camera on a device. There are several free apps that make this easy.
• Instruct students that they can start with any task card. They should record their answers on the worksheet and SHOW THEIR WORK. If using the task cards with QR codes, students can then scan the code to check their answer.
• Close with a discussion about correct answers.
