What educators are saying

Great resource, thank you! I used this to help my students understand the situation the indigenous people were living through.

---------

In this DBQ investigation, students will attempt to answer the overarching question:

"What were the Spanish conquistadors able to so easily defeat the Natives of Central and South America?"

Students will look at and analyze 5 different documents. Each primary source focuses on a different reason for the Spanish domination of the natives - from disease, to advanced weaponry of a conquistador, to a misguided belief that Cortes was Quetzalcoatl.

Students will take notes on each document with the provided note-taking guide. This paper will later guide each student as they complete their essay.

How you administer the documents with the students is entirely up to you. You can assign the packet for homework, possibly 1 per night for 5 nights, or you can have students work on this in class individually (or in groups). Also, you have the class broken into 5 groups - each group must teach the class about their document and tell their classmates what information goes on their note-taking guide! This product is now 1:1 Google compatible -- just share through Google or assign via Google Classroom!

**This lesson includes a version with color and a black and white version!
