Sound Wall for Upper Elementary and Upper Primary - Science of Reading.
What educators are saying
Description
If you're looking for a Sound Wall for K-2 students click here. Because this resource is not it. This resource has been specifically designed for use by kids who are in upper primary (I would personally use it for kids that are aged 8 and above).
So, what's different about this sound wall to the one for younger kids? The examples. The examples in this Sound Wall have been created to be fun and engaging to the older kids, as well as us teachers.
This sound wall provides you with a way to display the sounds (phonemes) in a visually appealing and organised manner. For each phoneme there is:
- a phoneme associated picture card
- a phoneme card (two display options)
- most common phoneme spelling cards (two display options)
- examples of the most common phonemes within words and pictures that match.
Each of the above cards are separate, so you can customise how you create your sound wall display.
And, all the cards are colour coordinated :)
There is also an editable document containing the outline for you to make your own word cards (in the coordinated colours) should you wish to create your own examples, get the kids to create their own examples and/or use as a word bank for each sound (like you would with a traditional word wall).
Plus, there's a personal version of the Sound Wall for your kids to use at their tables. Although, unlike the classroom display version, the personal version does not include any examples.
If your kids don't need a whole sound wall, but would benefit from the vowels section, I have a vowel wall available on tpt too.
