Softball stat keepers - scenarios to learn how to keep the books

I had to find a way to help my 6,7,8th grade manager/book keepers of my middle school softball team learn how to keep the books. This fake team with 7 innings of hits, outs, errors etc. gives them a chance to practice like they are at a real game. I made copies of the actual score book and they write down all the runs, outs, errors and practice the abbreviations; BOB, HBP, WP, E6, 6-3, SOW, etc. I put them on construction paper and laminated them so the students could have them outside by the field while we were practicing. I gave them the answer sheet afterwards to see how they fared. It took a few days for them to do this (among their other jobs I had for them to help with). they could collaborate too!
