This Social Emotional Learning resource contains six SEL activities to help students build and develop their social emotional learning. The activities in this resource focus on self-awareness. Each is designed to help students investigate their individuality. The engaging activities help students identify their strengths and weaknesses while developing positive decision–making. These Social Emotional Learning activities focus on self-awareness. Self-awareness is the ability to identify one’s emotions, thoughts, values, strengths, and weaknesses. Each of these activities help students to understand themselves.
- Reflective Journaling: With 10 targeted writing prompts, students can develop insight into their feelings, make sense of their experiences, and build clarity on their thoughts.
- About Me A-Z Poster: Students use each letter of the alphabet to shed light on who they are, what they like, how they feel, and what makes them unique. The result is a fun “All About Me” poster.
- Mindfulness Quotes: The 24 centering quotes help students pause and reflect on their own thoughts during moments of mindfulness.
- Growth Mindset: Students identify their own mindsets and create an inspirational desk card. (Includes 5 different growth mindset desk tents.)
- Where’s Your Head At?: Help students build awareness of their changing emotions with this activity. Students create a grid of emotions and move the marker as their feelings change.
- Emotions Skit: This activity combines brainstorming, writing, acting, and collaboration. Students work in small groups to write a script that addresses a specific emotion.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) helps students:

These SEL lessons focus on Self-Awareness. Self-Awareness is the ability to identify and understand your thoughts, feelings, and values. This can include identifying your own strengths and limitations. When students develop a strong self-awareness, they feel more confident and optimistic.
