What educators are saying

I used this to teach my life skill students about the events of 9/11. It was a great resource to teach students at a younger level.

Description

September 11th Differentiated Bundle for Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4

This Patriot Day resource is designed to sensitively teach children about the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 through a variety of differentiated literacy resources. If you have a wide range of readers in your classroom, this unit includes something that everyone can read! The bundle also now includes paperless books and activities that can be implemented with Google Classroom, Google Slides, Chromebooks, iPads, or other 1:1 devices. You can go digital with ease using these no-prep resources.

This bundle includes:

"American Heroes" Guided Reading Books - Level 1 (K-1) and Level 2 (1st-2nd)

These leveled books teach students about the role of first responders during emergency situations. It does not focus on the events of 9/11.

"Never Forget" Guided Reading Books - Level 3 (2nd/3rd) and Level 4 (3rd/4th)

These leveled books explain the events of September 11 in a way that would be appropriate for young students. Level 3 references the events of that day, but focuses on how brave the first responders were and that our country worked together to help the people that were hurting. Level 4 explains that it was a terrorist attack that involved hijacking planes and crashing them into buildings. It shows that first responders were heroes because they risked their lives to save people that were in danger. It reminds us that our country is strong and will not let the bullies overcome.
