What educators are saying

Two of my students were struggling with long division, as a class we used this for extra practice and they totally caught on to the long division. Thanks
These long division pages were a lifesaver with my homeschooled 4th grader who was getting increasingly frustrated with remembering the steps. The pages are well designed to communicate clearly to the student. I plan to continue using the worksheets with my student for continued practice.

Description

As a teacher of fourth grade for over 25 years, I can tell you that long division is easily the most challenging 4th grade math calculation your students will learn. It involves a complicated (sometimes confusing) algorithm and requires a strong fluency of basic facts for not just for division, but also multiplication, and subtraction, too. To master the steps requires a lot of practice and repetition.

In their early learning, students benefit from scaffolding and cues to remind them of the steps that they need to follow to learn the standard method of long division. These pages are designed to provide this early practice for this difficult to learn skill.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

32 pages of division problems up to 4 digit dividends divided by 1 digit divisors.

scaffolded worksheets with grids and arrows to guide and organize your students' work in a step by step process using the standard method for long division

matching independent practice pages with only grids for students ready to work without extra help

⇒ problems with and without remainders

⇒ problems including zeros in the quotient and money

BONUS ITEMS:

  • Long division teaching tips
  • TpT Digital Layer (Easel) that allows students to input answers
  • a Google Slides™ version of each page for presentation (not student editable)
  • Math notebook pages
  • Kahoot game links
  • Answer key with included work

THESE ARE PERFECT FOR:

  • New long division learners
  • Students who never mastered long division in a previous grade
  • Whole group initial instruction
  • Tutoring, intervention or small group instruction
  • an IEP accommodation for special education (SPED) students
