Description
Reading Response Journal Prompts for Independent Reading Time
Do you provide your students with time to read, time to think about their reading, and time to respond to their reading? Reading Response Journal Prompts is one of the best ways to encourage and create strong readers.
We know as teachers that it’s extremely important for students to reflect on their reading, talk about their reading..and Reading Response Journals provide them with that opportunity! It allows students to deepen and expand their understanding of the texts that they read.
If you're a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th Grade Teacher, I’ve created a simple way for you to implement reading response journals in your classroom.
This resource includes everything you need to get started. And you can start tomorrow!
This set includes over 100 reading response journal prompts or questions in a choice board/menu format.
This resource also includes:
- 13 Different Menus- each board includes 7 Fiction prompts and 2 Non-Fiction prompts
- Journal Prompt Strips that match the questions on the menu so when students choose a prompt, they can also choose the corresponding strip to glue down in their journal (optional)
- Reading Log
- Rubric
- Guidelines + Expectations Sheet
- Teacher Notes + Pictures to guide you in SETTING up your journal and explaining HOW to use the journal
I’ve also included an EDITABLE VERSION, so if you’d like to modify the rubric, guidelines + expectations, and mix and match the reading response questions, you can do so!
