What educators are saying

I am really enjoying this set. My kids are able to follow and complete. It is helping with needed skills.
I had previously bought the 2nd grade comprehension and went ahead and got the 1st grade for my lower readers. This is a great find!

Description

This 239 page pack has 100 reading passages for your 1st grade students. These reading comprehension passages help you integrate and practice essential reading skills and strategies. These passages cover skills and strategies such as visualizing, asking questions, main idea and details, text structures, and more.

This product includes a DIGITAL VERSION to use in Google Classroom.

Included In This Download:

  • 100 reading passages with comprehension questions
  • answers key for every passage
  • a digital version of every reading passage

Each week has one or two skills that students can focus on. All 20 weeks follow the same 5-day format. There is a reading passage followed by 4 questions that practice the strategy and skill.

These passages can be used daily or weekly. They are perfect for literacy centers, morning work, homework, or partner work. You can print them out individually or bind them together into a book for students to use all year.

Each passage has been professionally leveled by Lexile so you know you can trust the level, structure, and complexity of each passage. Each passage also comes with picture support to help scaffold your readers. After reading, students will answer targeted skill and strategy questions to help build their comprehension. They will also go back to the text and "prove" their answers by highlighting information from the text.

Each passage has been professionally leveled by Lexile!

Find the exact level your students should be reading on by matching their Lexile level to each passage!

The Lexile passages range from 40L-490L.

100 Passages on a Variety of Literature and Informational Topics

Find a variety of fiction and nonfiction passages for your students. Each topic has been carefully selected to ensure it is high-interest, engaging, and motivating. Each passage is unique to this set and is not repeated in the other grade level passages.

Targeted Skill and Strategy Practice

Help build your students' reading comprehension with questions at the end. Students can prove their answers by going back into the text and highlighting their answers.

A Variety of Questions Included

Your students can practice answering multiple choice and open response questions.

Use the Pages Individually or in a Student Book

You can pass out the pages to students (or display them) individually, or you can staple/bind them together to create a student booklet.
