Description

This worksheet was prepared so that students would reflect and analyze the factoring of quadratic expressions when a=1. This worksheet would most likely be used early in the learning of the factoring process, but may be used any time.

The analyzing should lead the student to realize that when all terms are positive in the quadratic expression, the binomials would have positive constants, when the constant term is positive, but the linear term is negative in the quadratic, the binomial factors will have negative constants, and when the constant term of the quadratic is negative, then one of the constant terms of the binomials will be negative and the other one will be positive.

This worksheet is also useful for additional practice with factoring or with an interactive lecture.
