This ❤ Google Interactive Activity ❤ is an engaging practice of "Simplifying Complex Fractions" . This is a BLENDED Activity as a HARD COPY of the activity is included in this product. This products has 16 questions assessing different models of Simplifying Complex Fractions
In this activity students are given a specific Complex Fraction Model. The student would need to simplify the model and match the answer from the given bank. No answer is to be used twice.
My students appreciated this type of activity as it allowed them to be independent and find their "own mistakes" before seeking any help. My students have a mastery of complex fractions as they had the opportunity to interactive with the 3 different levels of this activity and master simplifying such type of questions.
The questions of this puzzle consists of 3 models (3 Activities or 3 Levels) of simplifying complex fractions:
☑ Level 1: Simplify Numeric complex Fractions. May have 2, 3, or 4 parts. (No Variables in this model)
☑ Level 2: Simplify Complex Fractions with 2, 3, or 4 parts. Variables as Monomials are present in this model
☑ Level 3: Simplify Complex Fractions with Binomials & Trinomials (3 parts)
In each of the 16 questions of this activity, students are asked to:
⇝ Find the Least Common Denominator (Copy and Past the puzzle piece of the LCD to the board)
⇝ Simplify using the LCD (Copy and Paste the answer to the board)
Students should feel comfortable with:
⊠ Finding the LCD of numbers, monomials, and binomials
⊠ Factor GCF
⊠ Factor Trinomials
⊠ Factor Difference of Two Squares
⊠ Using the Distributive Property
⊠ Combining Like Terms
In this activity students will be using Google Slides. Some students used their computers, some used their phones, while others used their IPADs. As long as there is a Google Drive there is a way.
The answer key is included in the file as well as a "Step-By-Step Answer Key. I usually share it when all assignments are turned in "Electronically"
I use Algebra II Common Core Pearson Textbook. This activity works very well with Section 8.5: Adding & Subtracting Rational Expressions
