What educators are saying

This was a great poetry unit that was scaffolded for our learners. It broke it down step by step for them to understand and provided them with organizers to use.
This resource is laid out really well! Easy to follow and my class really enjoyed the booklets they made!

Description

If you're looking for introductory poetry lessons for elementary students, but don't know where to start, this resource is just what you need! This poetry unit was created to help you teach basic poetry to students in grades 2-6. It's such a fun way to introduce your students to the world of writing their own poems in small, easy-to-understand lessons with lots of examples.

I've made it super easy to use with a Google Slides presentation to help guide you through each poetry lesson and practice writing with your students. Printable practice pages are included, as well as pages for a student book they can make with all of their unique poems. Your students will be so engaged in these writing lessons, and they will be able to create a book of poems they will be so proud of! Parents love them, too, and they will become a special keepsake for years to come.

*GOOGLE SLIDES LINK is included to easily present the lessons to your class!

This Poetry Unit includes lessons, examples, and ideas for:

  • Acrostic Poem
  • All About Me Poem
  • Cinquain
  • Haiku
  • Five Senses Poem
  • Color Poem
  • "Because of You" Poem
  • "My Book of Poems" Printables for Student Booklets
