Description

This PowerPoint makes it easy for Elementary students to understand a fundamental physics equation. We clear up common misconceptions about the speed of falling objects. This would make a great conclusion to a class experiment, or could be used as a jumping off point for individual research.

I used this PowerPoint as a wrap up discussion with my Elementary Gifted students. We used it at the conclusion of a Blood Splatter Lab which asked the question, "How does the distance associated with the impact of blood to a surface affect the size of the blood splatter?"

It includes:
explanation of the acceleration that occurs as gravity pulls things to Earth
explanation of F= M*A in the context of the blood splatter lab
discussion of Potential and Kinetic energy
check for understanding with two thought experiments
opportunity for students to write and evaluate higher order questions
