Description

Challenge students to engage in the same practice that Marjane Satrapi relied on to craft her graphic novel, Persepolis: reflecting on an event in their lives which has impacted their coming of age and sharing it in a mini graphic novel relying on Satrapi's techniques. Students and teachers love this 3-day long project!

You’ll get:

  • the editable assignment sheet and detailed rubric
  • a 2x5 page of practice panels for a rough draft
  • samples and explanations of each type of panel
  • a matching exercise identifying panel types in Persepolis
  • a sample mini graphic novel
  • a NYT book review scenario paper for the gallery walk
  • a Google docs version of the above
  • a chance to see students personally connect with Satrapi’s genre!

See why teachers have shared the following feedback:

  • ”My students had a blast creating their own graphic novels! The gallery walk worksheet helped to keep students accountable for reviewing their peers' work.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • "Arguably the most successful and most engaging project of the school year. Thank you!" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
