Description

What teacher doesn't love to use themes in the classroom?

As a STEM coordinator, I am always looking for creative ways for teachers to integrate STEM engineering and design challenges into their classroom activities. I decided to work on creating STEM Engineering Challenge Packs for some themes.

This STEM Challenge Activity is focused on the Pulley!

Can you design a pencil pulley that can lift the weight of a book at least two feet?

Materials: (per pair or group)

-Table top area

-Pencil

-Ribbon spool or other type of spool

-String, ribbon or yarn

-Scissors and tape

These STEM engineering and design challenges will bring Simple Machines and how each one works to life in your classroom! I have also included information pages about each type of simple machine!

Time to engineer those Simple Machines!

*This STEM Challenge activity can also be found as part of a STEM Simple Machines BUNDLE with a total of 6 challenges!
