Description
Pick a partner or do small group pairing with these fun cards!
With a variety of fun ways to pair or group students, students each choose (or receive) one card and then seek out their pair or group. Forming groups for projects or STEM challenges can elicit groans from students, but by making it fun and engaging for students, this will become your go-to way for no-argue partnerships.
Pick a Partner Cards may be printed at full size or at 2 pages per sheet to save paper.
✅ What You'll Get ✅
✅ Partnering Cards
- Food Partners: 30 cards, 15 pairs. Your students will be familiar with most of these examples, as they can go together like peas & carrots or peanut butter and jelly!
- English Proverbs and Sayings: 30 cards, 15 pairs. Some of these sayings will be known and others might be new! These cards have an image split down the middle, so students can find their match by solving the visual puzzle. Examples include "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" and "Don't count your chickens before they hatch."
✅ Grouping Cards
- Groups of 3: 39 cards, 13 groups. What comes in 3s? This is a mixed bag of fun sets of three, such as the Three Little Pigs and Rock, Paper, Scissors.
- Groups of 4: 32 cards, 8 groups. This is another fun assortment of things that come in fours, such as seasons and basic math operations.
✅ Partner OR Group Cards
- Color Sets! These cards are provided in sets of 4, but you can remove 1-2 cards to make your own pairs or groups of 3.
✅ Also Included
- WILD CARDS for each style of card. If you have an odd number of students (for pairs) or a number of students not easily divisible by 3 or 4, use the wild cards for either student free choice or have students see you to seek their assignment.
- Blank Templates are included so that you can create your own partner or group sets! If you have a classroom theme, you can make your own sets to complement that theme. Ideas include ocean animals, jungle theme, favorite books or movies, etc.
What Teachers are Saying
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "These are great! I used them on the first day of school to assign seating. All throughout the year the students have asked to use them when we make groups. Thank you for the fun resource. "
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I love these! It makes a fun, no-argue way to assign partnerships, triads, quads, etc. The pictures are bright, simple, and fun and students enjoyed moving around the classroom to find their matches. It got them moving and changed up the people they usually worked with. I especially love the figurative language pairs for my 4th graders, as that's a heavy literacy standard for us."
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This is a GREAT way to pair students into partners, trios, or groups. I had a few complaints from students about not always getting to work with friends, but this system ensures that no child is left out, and also helps students learn how to work with anybody they are assigned to work with. Thank you so much!"
