What educators are saying

This fit perfect with my unit on Newton's Laws of Motion! The students worked hard every day on their rollercoasters and were so creative with them. It was fun to watch them think and discuss this project! Thank you!

Description

Paper roller coasters is sure to be a project students will love! It is an engineering project that requires collaboration, problem solving, exact measurement, and a knowledge of physics. Students will explore and put to test Newton's Laws of motion while building their vertical paper roller coaster made out of card stock, tape, and a foam board for the base. You will be amazed at your students creativity in designing and problem solving. I love how cost efficient this STEM project is, using only the three materials listed above. This purchase includes a PowerPoint presentation that has been turned into a PDF reviewing Newton's laws of motion and how they apply to the movements of roller coasters. The presentation also discusses how roller coasters work along with links for videos to use with your students. The PDF also includes the challenge, requirements, student examples, both pictures and videos, and forces of motion that affect how roller coasters work. A rubric has been included for assessment.
