Description

I am making this available on Teachers Pay Teachers as a free download in response to overwhelming requests to view this document. This is not meant for you to use as-is, but is rather available to provide an example of how I use my various interactive notebooks and other products during the course of a school year.

This download also lists all of the literature/articles/novels/stories that I use during the year and which skills I teach with each one, as well as the resources I use.

I do not have a document in this format for all of 7th grade ELA and do not plan to make one at this point.

This is a working document and therefore it will certainly change during the course of a school year. It is based on my calendar as well as policies from my district and will most likely require revision in some form in order for you to use. You may use this document in any way for your own personal classroom use. You may also share it with other educators. You may not, however, post it publicly on the Internet or alter this specific document in any way. I have made it available in order to provide other teachers with an outline of how I organize my pacing charts around interactive notebooks as well as specific lessons and literature match-ups.

In some cases, specific stories or readings are planned without a listed skill or standard. In other cases, a skill and standard are listed but a story or reading has not yet been chosen. Here, you will see TBD – To Be Determined. This is based on the need to adapt instruction to specific students and classes and also to be flexible with the readings from year to year to keep up with current events as well as find readings that will best be suitable for and interest the students I will be teaching but have not yet met.

When listing specific standards for the CCSS alignment, I have only indicated standards that will be heavily emphasized during a given week. The standards listed are in no way exclusively taught but are often taught along with all standards that have been taught before it. For example, I will focus heavily on RL.7.1 during the first weeks of school. You will not find it listed each week, but students will absolutely be engaged in some form of this standard during every week of the school year.

Abbreviations have been used to indicate where the lessons can be found, if applicable.
