THE NARRATIVE WRITING SLIDES:

---WRITING A PERSONAL NARRATIVE - The elements of a personal narrative are explained

---TOPIC JUMPSTARTS/ BRAINSTORMING – Ten different “situation” topics are provided with areas for students to brainstorm for each

---NARROW DOWN YOUR TOPIC – After deciding on a topic, students are prompted to narrow down their experience to the most meaningful part

---PLANNING YOUR WRITING – Pre-writing organizer slides where students type in their details for setting, characters, and beginning, middle, and ending events

---DRAFTING YOUR LEAD – Examples of two styles of leads are provided, and students then compose a lead for each style and compare/discuss with a peer

---PUNCTUATING DIALOGUE – Examples that demonstrate rules for punctuating dialogue and practice sentences for students to complete

---TRANSITIONS – A list of transitions and transitional phrases and clauses commonly used in narrative writing

---AWESOME ADJECTIVES – To emphasize description, 15 vivid adjectives are listed in word boxes, and students type the appropriate adjectives into the sentences provided

---SENSORY ADJECTIVES – A list of 105 sensory adjectives for students to use, categorized under taste, sight, touch, smell, and sound

---VOICE IN YOUR WRITING – Several techniques to enhance voice in a narrative are demonstrated for students to incorporate in their writing
