What educators are saying

My students were OBSESSED with this activity, and it was a perfect way to assess understanding and learning! Thank you so much!
This is a great escape room! Very easy, low prep! I did laminate all the pages so I could use them again. My students at theory camp did finish it in about 20 minutes - I was impressed! Excited for future opportunities to use it as well! Thank you for creating this resource!

Description

This Music Escape Room #2 is a twist on the "Escape Room Mania" that has hit the teen (and adult) world in the last few years. Students work as teams to solve mystery codes based using their knowledge of music theory. This Escape Room is considerably more difficult than Escape Room #1 and is geared towards students that have played 2-5 years and are in grade 7 or higher. Estimated time for completion is 60 minutes depending on size of teams.

Students use:

Note values (whole, half, dotted-half, quarter, dotted-quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes & rests)

Musical symbols (such as time signature, natural, repeat sign, accent, fermata)

Note names, key signature & accidentals

Students are exposed to short biographies of three famous composers (Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Scott Joplin, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)

This activities are also perfect for a sub (be sure you have prepped everything ahead of time and provide the substitute the detailed answer key) or to keep students engaged during a regular classroom lesson. Appropriate for middle school music and high school music, including band, choir and orchestra.
