It often feels impossible to fit everything we need to teach into each day. And then come the holidays. Mother’s Day was one that always snuck up on me every year and I would be scrambling last-minute to find an activity/card/gift that
#1 didn’t cost an arm and a leg, and
#2 didn’t eat up and entire week to get done.
When it snuck up on me again (really, you’d think I’d learn…) I threw together this newspaper template plus LUCKILY we had just taken a field trip to our local garden centre where the kiddos all got to transplant their own small flower plant. AH HA! My brain actually clicked in and decided these would not go home with the students that day but rather we would save them for Mother’s Day. And then to make myself feel better about being unprepared (actually let’s call it “killing two birds with one stone”), we whipped up these adorable paper plate plant stakes (originally from my son's teacher back in kindergarten!) to decorate the still-teeny plants that were in otherwise boring, cheap, small, black plastic pots. DONE AND DONE. The best part though, was all the moms who raved about how much they loved the sweet gift and funny answers in their newspaper articles. It was an accidental WIN but I'll take it!
