• 10 formative assessments

Common Core Aligned

Feel confident that you are comprehensively and effectively teaching your students every skill in the standard.

Use Math Tasks to Facilitate Deeper Understanding

The math tasks in this product differ from conventional math tasks. This approach has been proven to facilitate deeper student understanding and differentiation in the classroom.

How they work: Information is missing from each task to teach your students how to apply the standard’s concepts in real-world settings. For example, a question might ask how many legs the students saw while on a field trip to the zoo. The students would then have to reasonably estimate how many animals they saw, how many legs on each animal, and how many legs they saw in total. Your students might all get a different answer but as long as they do the math correctly, the final answers can be different.

Students can work individually, in small groups, or in partnerships to complete the math tasks given. They will use skills such as rounding, estimating, multiplying, dividing, adding, subtracting, guess and check, drawing pictures, using equations etc. to solve these problems. They can then share their work with the class and explain their thinking.

Use Exit Tickets to Reinforce Learning and Assess Understanding at the Door

The exit tickets are a quick way for students to show what they know and for the teacher to assess their lesson. It also gives a quick snapshot of the material covered that day and who needs to be retaught.

Use I Can Statements to Set Clear Objectives and Guide Student Learning

The I Can statements help set expectations, and provide structure and guidance to the students. They are in kid-friendly language so the students know exactly what they will be learning.

Answer Keys Included

Each exit ticket comes with an answer key for quick and easy grading.

Comprehensive Assessments to Determine What Your Students Know

There are assessments included that can be used as formative or summative assessments. They help you quickly see what information your students know and what needs to be reviewed.

Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.
Measure to determine how much longer one object is than another, expressing the length difference in terms of a standard length unit.
Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve word problems involving lengths that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as drawings of rulers) and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
