What educators are saying

My students love using this resource for morning work. They also love to be timed to see how many facts they can solve in a set period of time.
I didn't use these as "timed tests". Instead, I used them as practice pages. I like that the top of the page tells the student what they are working on.

Description

Use this resource for pre- and post-assessments in addition and subtraction math fact fluency. The assessments are based on mental math strategies. It's an excellent tool for differentiating the assessments for students who learn at different rates.

The data from the assessments allow you to assign games and activities to students based on their needs, and even differentiate homework for each child.

Use the Student Data Record for students to track their progress and the Student Goal Setting to help them focus on improvement.

I have added a growth mindset element to the Student Goal Setting section of each assessment.

This is an excellent tool that makes it easy for you to track each student’s progress, differentiate their needs, and provide targeted learning with specific games and activities.

I have added a second version of each test: Form A & Form B. (Teachers requested this so that students did not always have the same assessment as they were mastering a strategy.)

Fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.)
Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
Understand division as an unknown-factor problem. For example, find 32 ÷ 8 by finding the number that makes 32 when multiplied by 8.
