Matariki Paper Lantern - To Colour and Assemble

This Matariki resource is perfect for an afternoon activity to decorate your classroom.

You get an easy to download pdf template of the lantern which you can photocopy for tamariki and have them colour. The instructions are included in an easy visual for students to follow. This is perfect for young and older tamariki alike.

These lanterns are for the Maori New Year and look beautiful once displayed.

Simply cut around the images and follow instructions on where to cut next, colour, glue and

then display.

Matariki is New Zealand’s indigenous population New Year. It is also based around the legends of Tahwirimatea who threw his eyes out to the sky and his tears became the stars of Mataraiki
