What educators are saying

This is a great resource and exactly what I needed!
Loved this activity. I wrote down the "big words" while I read the book, then let my students pick 3-4 words to write. The craft was a little challenging, but most students succeeded with adult help. I also left off the ears, and it looks cute without them!

Description

Use this craft to go along with the book Martin's Big Words (which is one of my favorites) or with another book that celebrates Dr. King (a list of suggested books is below).

Students can write about Dr. King's 'big' words that they learned from reading or they can write about their own ideas concerning Dr. King! Additional writing prompts include 'My BIG words,' and 'I have BIG dreams!'

Suggested books about Dr. King (some of these are ones I've loved and some are recommendations from other teachers I admire)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"I paired this activity up after reading "Martin's Dreams" with my students. We talked about different dreams that we had for our world."

-Amy V.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"A nice, simple craft for Martin Luther King Jr Day. It also allows for a lot of freedom in terms of how you would like to incorporate "I have a dream" into your students' writing. We completed this during virtual learning, and aside from all the different materials, the students were able to complete this assignment relatively easily."
