- Google Drive™ folder
What educators are saying
Description
Mania Musicale is an annual bracket-style competition for World Languages students. The concept is similar to March Madness Basketball, but in this case students will predict which of 16 Italian songs will be the winner. The goal is to show 2 songs per day and have your students writing and speaking in Italian using the resources provided. This an activity that is not only bringing Italian culture into your classroom, but also it’s giving your students the opportunity to learn, get the input they need, and have fun.
How to use in your classroom:
The first thing I suggest you do is to read the artists’ biographies with your students and answer the comprehension questions orally. Once your students are familiar with a specific singe, then play the video. Repeat the same process with the second artist of the day and then use the resources to help your students express their opinions both orally and in writing. Continue the same process until you have your 2 finalist songs. I suggest you teach the wining song lyrics and maybe go in depth into the artist's history by listening to other songs. It is basically up to you.
Here's what you will get:
-Biographies of 16 artists with comprehension questions
-Vocabulary and sentence stems that supports expressing opinions in Italian
-Printable conversation activities with sentence stems
-Printable bracket to follow the competition
-Printable writing activity to track the competition
-Teacher guide
