What educators are saying

This is a great resource for our ladybug life cycle unit. My student enjoyed the book and the writing activity that was included.
My students loved the ladybug craftivity. It definitely helped supplement the lack of practice in my district curriculum

Description

This "Diary of a Ladybug" set is based on some of the best children's books ever written by Doreen Cronin and explores the magical life cycle of a ladybug! For a better look, just click on PREVIEW!

"Diary of a Ladybug" Book Writing Project:

Students will not only be learning about ladybugs, but they will also explore the concept of perspective or point-of-view. I've included a book cover and 5 numbered pages to make a super cute student-written book titled, "Diary of a Ladybug". These are easily some of the best, most creative stories my kiddos write all year! I always love to display them in the hallway together with the Ladybug Life Cycle Craftivities.

Five Graphic Organizers:

To help your students through the writing process, there are five different graphic organizers to use while brainstorming and writing their first drafts.

Observation Journal:

If you choose to raise ladybugs in your classroom, use this leaf-shaped Observation Journal to monitor their growth and changes.

Point-of-View Glasses:

Writing from the perspective of someone else can be a challenge for some students. So I've included four different "Point-of-View Glasses" to print and tape onto children's sunglasses. Use these when discussing the perspective of an egg, larvae, pupa and adult ladybug. Cute, cute, CUTE!

Five Life Cycle Posters with Photographs:

Provides basic information about each stage of the life cycle, as well as informative photos of each one.

Ladybug Life Cycle Craftivity:

This craftivity looks like a ladybug with the life cycle illustrated under it's wings... so cute! I've provided three different versions to allow for differentiation or different grade levels. These ladybugs make an adorable bulletin board display, as well!

Nine Word Wall Picture Cards:

Picture cards for your Word Wall to help reinforce new ladybug vocabulary.

Life Cycle Sequencing Activity:

A one page cut-and-glue ladybug life cycle sequencing activity.

Ladybugs capture our attention and simply make us smile! Kids LOVE them and they are SO MUCH fun to teach, as well! I hope you and your kiddos have TONS of fun with this set!
