Description
This reading comprehension activity includes a brief text on La Malinche, commonly thought to be the historical inspiration for the figure in the popular Mexican legend of La Lllorona.
This editable Google Doc includes a one-page text in Spanish with footnotes to assist with comprehension (can be tailored to your class' level), 5 comprehension questions in English, and a reflection question on what legends can tell us about the cultures they come from.
This resource would fit well with a unit on La Llorona or legends and myths. Use it as an in-class activity or an assessment. Turn this into a jigsaw activity by breaking having different groups read different sections or answer specific questions.
