    What Do You Do With an Idea? by Kobi Yamada is an Independent Publisher's Book Award-winning picture book. This literature unit is appropriate for 1st-4th grade.

    Note: Picture books are generally most appropriate for primary grades, but the concepts presented in 'What Do You Do With an Idea?' are appropriate for any age, so this unit is designed to reach students a bit older than the average picture book audience.

    What Do You Do With an Idea focuses more on the concepts presented in the story and less on the content (although comprehension questions are included in list form and task card form).

    What Do You Do With a Problem? by Kobi Yamada

    This literature unit is perfect for 1st-4th grade.

    Note: Picture books are generally most appropriate for primary grades, but the concepts presented in 'What Do You Do With a Problem?' are appropriate for any age, so this unit is designed to reach students a bit older than the average picture book audience.

    This literature unit focuses more on the concepts presented in the story and less on the content (although comprehension questions are included in list form and task card form).

    In addition to the task cards and printables, you will also find a variety of tasks where students can practice finding opportunities in real-life problems and a growth mindset reflection page.

    Instructions are also included on how to set up a "Problem Patrol" in your classroom to assist students in solving problems (or receiving suggestions on how to manage problems). Before purchasing, please check out the preview for What Do You Do With a Problem.

    My hope is that this product will help your students learn how to find the gems of opportunity in problems.

    There is also a focus on how to deal with worries that students can control and worries that students can't control (and would even be perfect for a counselor facilitating a group for students that focuses on anxiety, worries, or problem-solving skills).     This growth mindset literature unit for What Do You Do With a Chance? by Kobi Yamada is perfect for 1st-4th grade.

    The activities in the literature companion focus more on the concepts presented in the story and less on the content (although there are vocabulary words and comprehension questions included in list form and task card form).

    In addition to 10 vocabulary cards, 14 discussion question task cards, and various printables, you will also find a variety of tasks where students can reflect on taking risks. Taking chances (risks) is a necessary component of growth mindset instruction. Before purchasing, please check out the preview for What You Do With a Chance.

    My hope is that this product will help your students understand the benefits of taking risks. They will also learn that making a mistake is an amazing opportunity to learn something new.
