Making inferences is a hard concept to teach. I created these task cards to make it easier! This is a 34 page lesson that focuses on the critical thinking skill, inferences. You will get task cards AND 5 days of guided mini lessons.
Print version and digital version are included! BONUS: 5 days of lessons with videos have been added- great for last minute sub plans or something for students to do independently.
The topics are high interest boy topics and girl topics: snakes, space, Golden Retrievers, Superman, Batman, Poison Ivy Rash, SpongeBob, Cupcakes, Killer Bees, American Girl Dolls, Ships, and Airplanes.
Each topic has one paragraph and 3 inference questions. Each card has a color picture. For example, there is one paragraph about killer bees. Then students answer the 3 inference questions on their answer sheet. They have to give facts from the paragraph and background knowledge to support their answers.
Guided mini lessons are included to teach this skill. Also Included are lesson instructions, two example paragraphs, 10 cards, and 2 different choices for answer sheets. Finally, there is an answer key and a rubric.
You could use this as a whole class lesson, guided reading lesson, or as a literacy center.
