What educators are saying

LOVED LOVED! It was a great activity for my students to do and they learned new information but also were able to do a hands on activity which made them feel like they weren't learning which kept them engaged.
This was a fun way for students to learn about what led to the Industrial Revolution in England. The slides were easy for them to follow along with and they enjoyed making their block. Thank you!

Description

This dynamic Industrial Revolution lesson is an excellent hands-on activity in which students create "building blocks" on the beginning of industrialization and why it began in Great Britain.

There are several options for how you might want to use the resources as well. First, there is an engaging PowerPoint presentation (and Google Slides version as well) on the reasons why the Industrial Revolution began in England and its important early characteristics. Students take notes on the building block template and then cut and fold them into cubes.

Another option is to use the included 2-page reading (with editable Google Doc) on the same content and allow students to complete the cubes on their own or in pairs. A third option is to use the included "flipped classroom" video of the presentation. Students can watch at home or in class and create their cubes as they watch.

Additional lesson extension ideas are also included as well! The various options make this an excellent resource for differentiating your classroom and finding a way that works best for your students.

This entire resource can also be downloaded as part of my Complete Industrial Revolution Unit Plan Bundle that includes lessons and resources for every day of the unit!
