An introduction to Nearpod...
I absolutely LOVE using Nearpod for math!!! This is a great way for students to practice target math skills and show work digitally. Nearpod is an engaging and interactive way to deliver instruction through distance learning and/or support your math centers. You can create a free Nearpod account, and the instructions for doing so are included in this bundle. It only takes 2 minutes to sign up.
Students can either join the lesson by using a desktop/Chromebook and going to the Nearpod website OR students can use the app on a tablet/ipad.
Nearpod can be used in two ways. The lesson can be assigned to your whole class simultaneously, allowing you to control your students' screens even when in a different location. This makes it perfect for distance learning!!! It can also be assigned to individual students to complete at their leisure, again making it ideal for distance learning. I LOVE to assign Nearpod lessons as independent work during centers. It gives students the opportunity to practice when working independently. The best part is that you will have access to reports that show you all of their answers. This makes for very useful data!

1) Fall Nearpod (1 lesson)
This lesson teaches students how to use pictures to help add and subtract. The instructions on the slides are recorded so that students can complete these lessons independently. The lesson has 30 slides that include the following interactive activities:
- 6 slides where students review the meaning of sum and difference
- 6 slides where students find the sum/difference using pictures
- 4 matching activities (2 with pictures for support and 2 without)
- 12 slides where students write addition/subtraction sentences to match the pictures
- an interactive game that serves as the lesson's exit ticket
The product is a PDF file with a link to make a copy of the lesson.
2) Halloween Nearpod (1 lesson)
This resource includes 2 Nearpod lessons: one for addition and one for subtraction.
The instructions on the slides are recorded so that students can complete these lessons independently. Each lesson has 20 slides and includes the following interactive activities:
- 3 slides where students review the meaning of sum or difference
- 1 brief instructional video that teaches students how to use pictures to add or subtract numbers up to 20
- 5 slides where students find the sum/difference using pictures
- 4 matching activities (2 with pictures for support and 2 without)
- 4 drag and drop activities where students use pictures to help answer an addition/subtraction sentence
- 3 slides where students draw pictures to help write their own addition/subtraction sentences
- an interactive game that serves as the lesson's exit ticket

3) Christmas Nearpod Lessons (4 lessons)
Four lessons are included in this bundle: Adding Numbers 1-5, Adding Numbers 1-10, Subtracting Numbers 1-5, and Subtracting Numbers 1-10. The instructions on the slides are recorded so that students can complete these lessons independently. Each lesson has 16 slides that include the following interactive activities:
- 1 brief instructional video
- 2 matching activities
- 4 slides where students write a matching addition or subtraction sentence
- 3 slides that review the math term: sum or difference
- 5 slides where students draw pictures and write the matching addition or subtraction sentence
