What educators are saying

These activities have been a hit with my students! They really like making these and sharing them with their classmates. I love to see them so engaged with creative writing.
This was fun and enjoyable for students to complete. I like the idea of making it light and playful and at the same time getting students to create.

Description

This bundle of FUN contains "magnet" poetry via Google Slides for 12 holidays.

Students can drag and drop words onto the slide to create poems just like those magnetic word/ poem sets for refrigerators and magnetic boards. Each poem activity is followed by a reflection slide in which students reflect back on the poems they created and answer the following questions:

  1. What is the theme of your poem?  Explain.
  2. What did you learn about this holiday, if anything?
  3. Did you use any literary devices in your poem?  If so, which one(s)?

This bundle includes Google Slides "Magnet" Poems for the following holidays:

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Chinese New Year
  • Valentine's Day
  • St. Patrick's Day
  • Ramadan
  • Memorial Day
  • Diwali
  • Halloween
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
  • New Year's Day

These are super fun for students to do around holidays and also help students learn about other cultures as well as history.
