What educators are saying

Bit intense for my 10th graders, but I LOVED the sentences that were used. Perfect real world examples! (The panda sentence is a favorite of mine!)
This was fantastic. When I told my students we were working at grammar, they were disappointed but when we worked on these worksheets, they were engaged and had fun. The students especially liked the killer commas. Thanks!

Description

These five Halloween grammar worksheets designed for high school students aren’t your typical Halloween grammar exercises! These are truly NO PREP, print and go, age-appropriate exercises to challenge and review your teens' grammar skills during October.

Student Experience: These grammar activities for Halloween reflect a seasonally-inspired thematic concept of the page that coincides with key, standards-based grammar skills. For example, students will be asked to combine and create compound and complex sentences in Dr. Frankenstein's lab. Or, students will consider adding adjectives and adverbs to some lifeless sentences in Mummy Modifiers. I’ve also designed the pages with beautiful, age-appropriate clip art to add layers and interest to the pages to grab your teens’ eyes. Plus, for those fast finishers, there’s plenty for them to color and style! Extension activities are also provided on several of the sheets, and the grammar notes are included right on the page as well. Grammar has never been this creepy..... and cool!

Skills/Themes Included:

-Killer Commas (Correcting “Deadly” Comma Errors)

-Mummy Modifiers (Learn about adjectives v. adverbs and add some life to sentences with descriptive modifiers)

-I’ll Cast a Spell on You (Spelling work with tricky, frequently confused words)

-Dr. Frankie’s Sentence Lab (Sentence variety, sentence combining)

-Costume Party Invite (Sometimes verbs “masquerade” as nouns and adjective when they are functioning as gerunds and participles)

Each worksheet takes about 20-25 minutes to complete. Suggested uses:

  • Traditional grammar practice
  • Sub sheets
  • Literacy centers
  • Learning stations
  • Homework
  • Test Prep
  • Review

Other teachers who've tried my seasonal grammar worksheets shared these classroom success stories:

♥ "This was a fun activity for my SAT Prep class. The examples were great for high school - they weren't too elementary for 10th and 11th graders. They enjoyed the examples and I liked that they weren't too easy and weren't too hard - great for review and discussion."

♥ "These were so fun to use, and with so many options, I was able to use some with one level and some with another which helped since I have multiple kids taking both classes and I hate to have them do the same thing!"

♥ "Another excellent product from Team Faulkner. Great product. A true time saver."
