What educators are saying

I teach IB students, and reflections is a huge part of our curriculum throughout the year. This is one of the most fun projects we did all year. Students loved it, and I definitely saw many of them take it to heart and make positive changes!
My students thoroughly enjoyed reading through these different "diseases." I used this activity as a New Year activity so the students could focus on an academic goal for the remainder of the school year.

Description

Ready to diagnose, treat, and cure the academic and behavioral “diseases” your students show at school? Use this set of activities to complete individualized, practical goal-setting in disguise!

Instead of getting frustrated with student excuses and choices, “cure” them with a humorous approach! Though this was made with middle school in mind, I know many high schoolers who also suffer from the following ailments:

>>>>Procrastinitis, Silence Infections, The “Whatever” Virus, High Grades Fever, The Common Over-commitment, An Upset Binder, Low Test Pressure, High Test Pressure, Excessive Talking Syndrome, and a Sprained Memory!

(Psst… Check out the PREVIEW for even more information about these diseases!)

Use this mini-unit to…
• Be proactive at the beginning of a school year (or semester)
• Treat the issues that come up during the year
• Practice goal-setting in a friendly way
• Gain posters to display on your walls
• Tackle student problems with humor and grace!

This 29-page unit includes:
• 10 Posters, describing each of the diseases in detail
• Stations activity to view each poster in a gallery walk
• Self-Diagnosis Sheet, to use with or without the stations activity
• Goal-Setting and Treatment plan: set a goal and go through research and informal interview steps to learn more about it
• Treatment Templates: 4 sheets to help students with their action plans (a SMART goal building sheet, a group plan sheet, a sample anti-procrastination calendar template, and a personal reflection template)
• Teacher Check-Up Form: A formative assessment half-sheet (to use once OR repeatedly) as an EASY status check for student progress!
• Teacher Log: An easy form to track your students’ names, goals, and notes on their progress
