What educators are saying

Thank you so much for this amazing resource on shapes. My kids were engaged and the centers were simple to implement
This was a wonderful supplemental material to include with our district curriculum. It was far more engaging and hands-on than what the curriculum offered. My students had fun with the crafts and the activities. Thank you!

Description

Introduce, reinforce, and have FUN with 2D and 3D shapes in this set of geometry activities! Planar and solid shapes are presented in a variety of ways so that students can explore both 2D and 3D shapes through games, printables, and hands-on activities (build the shapes with craft sticks or play dough).

Many of the activities are leveled, making it appropriate for both K kids and first graders (or choose which option works best for your students). Please view the preview file to get an idea of what's included (though more is included than what is shown in the preview). Aligned with CCSS, this unit supports all of the Grade 1 Geometry Standards: 1.G.A.1, 1.G.A.2, and 1.G.A.3 (as well as the K CCSS standards). The .zip file contains the following (split into 3 files):

❤️ What Teachers Are Saying ❤️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This unit saved me when my other math curriculum was delayed. I also like it because there are lots of worksheets to use and show my kids work and understanding. There is a good blend of cut and paste and handwriting worksheets. I also like how in depth the lesson goes. The unit covers polygons and makes it easy with simplifying the rules to be a polygon. "

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This kind of resource never gets old. I can use this over and over."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Great resource to use to help students learn about and organize information for each shape!"

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Our math program provides no hands-on activities to engage the children. This resource really helped!"

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Identify shapes as two-dimensional (lying in a plane, “flat”) or three-dimensional (“solid”).
Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes, in different sizes and orientations, using informal language to describe their similarities, differences, parts (e.g., number of sides and vertices/“corners”) and other attributes (e.g., having sides of equal length).
Model shapes in the world by building shapes from components (e.g., sticks and clay balls) and drawing shapes.
Compose simple shapes to form larger shapes. For example, “Can you join these two triangles with full sides touching to make a rectangle?”
Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.
