Flucht nach Europa--Hoffnung auf ein besseres Leben

This is a listening and reading comprehension activity suitable for advanced German III, German IV, V, and AP German students. Students are asked to watch five short videos (under three minutes for each video) which deal with the issue of immigrants from the Middle East and Africa flooding into the Euopean Union. After the students have watched the videos one time, I recommend that they watch each one once again, this time with the written listening comprehension activities in front of them, completing them at that time. For some classes, this lesson could be accomplished in one hour, and for others, it may take longer. For AP German, it lends itself well to the start of a unit culminating in a persuasive essay about this topic.
